Reading the Ten Commandments was not easy. Explaining all these to my husband and my child was even harder. First of all, my husband would start asking me questions like does it mean I could do this, and you couldn’t. Soon he would run away saying he was tired. My son would start questioning me in a way as if I could speak on God’s behalf, and which I couldn’t. I was so discouraged I gave up reading it myself.
But God always worked in an amazing way. I am reading the bible again. This time, I am determined to be more prepared not for others, but for myself. And as tough as it can be, going to church helps, finding a great bible study channel helps, joining a fellowship group also helps. As I realised, I couldn’t do this alone.
I understand that there are lot of laws in the bible that we should follow. But I have encountered wonderful people who are homosexuals and I also have great friends who are tarot readers. What should I do? Do I cut them off? When my child questioned me, all I know is I love them just the same. I am not in the place of judging anyone, for I myself sin every day. I am no better than they are. And we all share the love of God and Jesus, isn’t that enough for all of us to be friends with each other?
If we do everything from a place of love, then the answers to all the questions above is easy. I am not in the place to judge. I dislike the sin like all other sins I have committed myself, but I still send my love to them, just like how they have loved me as a sinner.
As I read the New Testament, I am really grateful that Jesus came so we are not being punished by our sins. Yes, I am always sad when I thought of his sacrifice but who else could do it but Him? Who alone is sinless? Who alone can come down and give us a one-on-one real-life coaching? He is our Teacher, our Saviour and our God. Only God’s son is qualified to do this for us. The only thing we can do is to make sure He didn’t die in vain. And we, as parents, as spouses and as children, should also live each day fruitful, faithful and humble.
Always remember “now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love”. And my favourite line is: True love never dies.
